Challenge
Habit'âge was born out of the personal story of Vanessa Couvreux Chapeau, the association's coordinator.
Becoming a widow in 2012, her partner's grandmother was forced to leave her uncomfortable home and move away from her village to join a retirement home.
It was from this situation that a group of residents got together to answer this question:
What are the brakes on staying to age in the village, close to friends and family?
What are the brakes on staying to age in the village, close to friends and family?
At the same time, they observed abandoned buildings in the heart of villages that were just begging to be brought back to life.
Restoring built heritage to transform them into shared living spaces for the elderly - the Habit'âge idea was born!"
Solution
A future Habit'âge home is to be built in Maine-et-Loire at La Boissière-sur-Èvre, opening in 2024. This renovation in the heart of the village is in the design phase, the house will accommodate 4 T2 apartments, a conviviality room and landscaped common outdoor spaces (courtyard, garden...) facing the village.
This renovation will be carried out using eco-designed and bio-sourced materials, in order to respect the environment and further integrate the project into a sustainable development approach.
The originality of this project is to involve the commune's inhabitants and elected representatives, as well as those involved in the ageing process, in all stages of the design process.

Recent result
A first Habit'âge home opened in Fontaine-Guérin 5 years ago in a former boule de fort playing field (a traditional local game), and a second will open soon with the restoration of a former hotel-restaurant in another Maine-et-Loire village.
The money will be used for
The money raised will be used to finance exterior landscaping work (low wall, garden, accessibility...) for common areas intended for the house's residents, but also for villagers during occasional events.
In addition, this collection will finance the creation of a courtyard, a hallmark element of Habit âge houses, a place for exchange, confidence and conviviality.
Goal
The aim is to finance all the outdoor improvements (garden, access and courtyard) to offer the Habit'âge home's residents a pleasant and friendly space.

The association fights against the isolation of the elderly by creating supportive senior housing in villages.
Habit'âge creates solidarity-based senior housing in Maine-et-Loire villages, and promotes any action aimed at the autonomy, participation and exercise of citizenship of retired people. The association's objectives are not only to combat the precarious situation of the elderly in rural areas, but also to revitalize village centers by restoring old buildings, and to take part in preventive measures to maintain autonomy in terms of housing and ageing.
In concrete terms, Habit'âge offers its residents adapted apartments with a convivial room and a communal garden facing the village. It offers a secure and comfortable living environment for retired people: living at home but surrounded.
A third Habit'âge home imagined in eco restoration is due to see the light of day by 2024.

Meeting with local residents and partners
The senior housing project at La Boissière-sur-Evre is taking shape day by day.
The Habit'âge team has met with various partners to mobilize as many local players as possible: a meeting to inform craftsmen of the project, a meeting with local businesses, an intervention by the association at the town council meeting, a meeting with future volunteers who will, perhaps, join the outreach team and accompany our future tenants in their daily lives....
We welcomed the first machines for the soil survey and soon the choice of craftsmen for the start of construction scheduled for the autumn!

The senior housing project in the commune of La Boissière-sur-Evre has just received the good news that planning permission has been granted, enabling us to launch the tender process.
