Solution

The SENAPI project aims to support the development of beekeeping as an income-generating activity complementary to market gardening: by providing beehives, training in beekeeping, and structuring the resale of honey at a price fixed upstream. Our solution enables women farmers to become self-sufficient, protect the rich biodiversity of the Casamance region and its mangroves, and develop a prosperous beekeeping industry that respects the environment. It's a tried-and-tested program, as the association has already developed it with over 6,000 beekeepers in Burkina Faso, whose salaries were sometimes doubled with beekeeping activities. The potential for expansion in Senegal is immense, in a country where demand for honey far exceeds production, and in such a melliferous region as Casamance.
