10 million tons of food are thrown away every year. More than 10 million people live in food insecurity. It just doesn't make sense! Every day, Le Chainon Manquant volunteers collect quality surplus food to offer fresh produce to charitable associations, redistributing nearly 400,000 meals a year. 1 donation of €1 = one meal redistributed to an underprivileged person. Many thanks for your support (donations tax-free at 75% up to €1,000, then 66%).

Soon 5,000 meals!
To prevent food waste and make quality food accessible to all, Le Chainon Manquant collects unsold or surplus fresh or fragile food from professionals and then redistributes them on a just-in-time basis to nearby solidarity associations.
In 2024, Le Chainon Manquant collected and then redistributed over 350,000 quality meals to solidarity associations. In 2025, thanks to the financial support received, the association was also able to launch new initiatives to develop its quality food solidarity schemes, notably by collecting market surpluses or creating collection rounds by fridge bike.

Less waste and more sharing for high-quality food solidarity! 10 million. That’s the number of metric tons of food thrown away each year in France—a massive environmental waste! It’s also the approximate number of people facing food insecurity who cannot feed themselves as needed. This makes no sense!
Yet solutions exist to bridge the gap between surplus and need. To improve access to a varied, high-quality diet for the most disadvantaged, the nonprofit Le Chainon Manquant offers a waste-reduction and solidarity program tailored to fresh and perishable products.Every day, its volunteers collect surplus fresh produce in a refrigerated van—particularly from events, markets, and institutional food service providers—and then immediately redistribute it to nearby charitable organizations, taking care to allocate the produce based on each organization’s capacity to repurpose it.
To improve access for the most disadvantaged to varied, quality food, Le Chainon Manquant offers an anti-gasping, solidarity-based scheme adapted to fresh, fragile produce.
Every day, Le Chainon Manquant volunteers collect surplus quality foodstuffs (fruit, vegetables, proteins, most often already cooked) from professionals - notably from the events industry, and collective catering - then immediately redistribute them to nearby solidarity associations (solidarity distributions, solidarity restaurants, shelters, social grocery stores ...), according to their needs, to help people in precarious situations.
In 2024, 178 tonnes of foodstuffs were saved from destruction by nearly 400 dynamic and committed volunteers.
This represented the equivalent of over 355,000 quality meals distributed to nearly 80 solidarity associations and the thousands of people in precarious situations whom they support.
